Group B Strep Support (GBSS) is the UK's leading charity working to stop group B Strep infection in babies. They educate the public, doctors and midwives about group B Strep. GBSS raises awareness about group B Strep, provides vital information to families and healthcare professionals, and supports those affected. Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies, and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. The charity informs pregnant women and health professionals how to prevent GBS infections. Without preventative medicine, GBS infects approximately 700 babies a year: 75 die & 40 survivors have long-term problems.
