The Water Lily Project is a Christian charity that supports and empowers vulnerable women in Christchurch and surrounding areas, helping them back to independent living. The project focuses on helping women who are experiencing domestic abuse and violence, mental health issues, or temporary crises. It provides a non-judgmental space for women to heal and grow, become independent and lead fulfilling lives. The charity offers one-to-one support, self-development training, group community activities, and a nationally recognised pattern-changing course. The organization also provides support for mental health, including help with PTSD and depression, and also offers social sessions, such as craft and garden groups and cooking. The Water Lily Project was founded in 2011 by a group of local Christians. The charity also runs a community cafe. It is currently offering one-to-one support, self-development training, and group community activities to women, helping them rebuild their lives. 85% of beneficiaries are escaping abusive relationships and many have additional mental health support needs.
