WARRINGTON MENCAP

Warrington Mencap is a charity based in Warrington working to promote independence since 1951. They help adults with learning disabilities to live independent lives and have equal rights, working in a person-centered way. They run social clubs, organize day trips, and run small group holidays, as well as holding various fundraising events throughout the year. They have four supported houses where small groups of friends live together with staff supporting them to be as independent as possible. They also provide support to people in their own homes and in their family homes. Warrington Mencap is affiliated with the national charity Mencap but is a separate charity, run by local people, and does not receive funding from national Mencap, but they do work with them on some projects to improve the lives of people who have a learning disability. They work with adults with Learning Disabilities to enable them to live their lives as independently as possible. They support individuals in their own and in group homes via both Direct Payments and Individual Service Funds. The organization aims to make Warrington a town where individuals with Learning Disabilities have an equal right to choice, opportunities, and respect.
