SOCIETY OF THE SACRED CROSS

The Society of the Sacred Cross is an Anglican religious order founded in Chichester, Sussex, in 1910. It established a community at Tymawr, Lydart, Monmouth, Gwent NP25 4RN, Wales. The community lives a monastic, contemplative life of prayer based on silence, solitude, and learning to live together, under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, with a modern rule. At the heart of their corporate life is the Eucharist with the daily Office and other times of shared prayer spanning the day. Hospitality is an important part of their life at Tymawr, and guests are most welcome. They offer full board and self-catering accommodation. The community is dedicated to the crucified and risen Lord. The wider family of Society of the Sacred Cross provides a place for a variety of expressions of a life of prayer, including Associates and Oblates.
