RESOURCE EXTRACTION MONITORING ORGANISATION

Resource Extraction Monitoring (REM) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2003 that tackles poor governance head-on. REM establishes formal partnerships with target governments and donors. Specializes in independent monitoring of law enforcement and governance for activities related to the extraction and management of natural resources. Focuses on the forestry sector but is branching out into other resources sectors. REM employs a unique approach based on monitoring how laws are applied in the field in partnership with governments to identify solutions and act on them. REM is not a lobbying organisation and has no political agenda, but is proactive in its work.
