NORTH BELFAST SENIOR CITIZENS FORUM

North Belfast Senior Citizens Forum (NBSCF) is a charity representing the interests of older people throughout North Belfast. Founded in 1993, it serves as an umbrella organization for around 25 member groups and individual older people. The Forum provides an outreach benefits advice service, helps with financial and social exclusion through a benefits outreach service, and runs courses and outings for older people. It also lobbies on issues of concern to older people such as transport and health. NBSCF represents the interests of around 25 member groups and individual older people throughout North Belfast. Over the past 5 years NBSCF has helped local older people claim over 0.5 million in unclaimed benefits. NBSCF is also a lobbying and advocacy group. We campaigned intensively for the introduction of free transport for people aged 60+ and on more local issues such as the retention of A&E services at the Mater Hospital. NBSCF has also been involved in various projects and initiatives, including collaboration on health and wellbeing, community pharmacy projects, and fuel poverty initiatives. It is presently a member of the Crumlin/Ardoyne Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership. The Forum also provides advice and information to older people and their carers and arranges social and health promoting activities, and works on dementia friendly and community safety initiatives. The objects of the Company shall be to promote the relief of elderly people in any manner which now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable within the North Belfast Area.
