Leicester Caribbean Carnival is one of the largest Caribbean Carnivals outside of London, held in Leicester. It began in 1985 and has grown to include costumed bands and floats on parade, led by the Leicester Carnival Queen. The Carnival commemorates the emancipation of slaves and celebrates Caribbean culture with food, dance, art, music, and workshops. The event takes place at Leicester Victoria Park. Elvy Morton, from Nevis, was a founder of the Carnival.
