INSTITUTE OF MATERIALS FINISHING

The Institute of Materials Finishing (IMF) is internationally recognized as a source of expert knowledge on all aspects of metal finishing, coating and surface engineering technologies. It was founded in 1925 as the Electroplaters and Depositors Technical Society. The area of interest broadened into all aspects of surface finishing on metal when it assumed the title of the Institute of Metal Finishing in 1951. In 2013 the name was changed to the Institute of Materials Finishing to embrace all technologies of surface finishing on a much wider variety of materials. The IMF is dedicated to the development of the industry working closely with both member companies and individuals to promote, educate and provide support. It focuses on surface engineering and finishing activities worldwide, applied to individuals and companies.
