GENERAL AERONAUTICAL LTD

Aeronautical & General Instruments (AGI) Ltd, now doing business as Trident Maritime Systems, is an established British company manufacturing a wide range of instruments and systems for the Defence and Civil markets worldwide. AGI was founded in 1915 as Radio Instruments Ltd, based in Croydon, near London, and supplied a wide range of radio equipment. In 1936, it changed its name to Aeronautical and General Instruments Ltd. During the Second World War, the company supplied surveillance cameras to the Royal Air Force and communications equipment to the Royal Navy and British Army. In 1946, AGI started the ‘AGILUX’ brand of commercial cameras and continued manufacturing civilian telephone and communications equipment. In 1980, the company founded a technology center at Verwood in Dorset and moved to Poole in 1997. AGI developed and supplied aerial reconnaissance cameras worldwide.
