Friends of Animals League (FOAL), also known as Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre, was founded on August 1, 1960, with the aim of rescuing and caring for animals until they are fit and well, and then placing them in permanent homes. The organization has a long history, starting with the rescue of animals by Carl and Penny Baker, and has grown to accommodate around 300 animals at any one time, including cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, ponies, pigs, cows, and goats. They rehome over 500 cats, dogs and rabbits each year and provide permanent sanctuary to over 150 horses, ponies, pigs, cows, goats.
