FLIGHT REFUELLING LIMITED

Flight Refuelling Limited, formerly Flight Refuelling Ltd (FRL), was founded in 1934 and is known for its development of air-to-air refueling systems. The company provided components, subsystems, and services that improve communication and enhance aerospace and defense platforms. FRL's early work included non-stop England-to-India flights with in-flight refueling, with a successful system developed and used by Imperial Airways. During World War 2, FRL concentrated on aircraft modifications and the company developed the 'probe and drogue' system, which later became the standard for many air forces worldwide. FRL also provided aircraft modification work and manufactured target drones. Flight Refuelling Limited exists today as Cobham PLC.
