Canal Connections is a social enterprise company working along the waterways of Leeds and Bradford, connecting individuals, communities and organisations to the canal environment. They use boats as a vehicle to inspire and engage, providing a unique mobile learning environment for schools, community groups, charities, corporate businesses and individuals. Canal Connections delivers a wide range of learning and engagement opportunities including a weekly work club, summer schools, seasonal boat trips and corporate and community volunteering opportunities. They also deliver the Leeds Waterfront Festival and work with organisations like Canal & Rivers Trust, Yorkshire Water and Environment Agency. Canal Connections uses the therapeutic potential of the region’s post-industrial, navigable waterways environment to engage people in a range of positive activities that help improve individual, social and environmental health and wellbeing by generating, four intrinsic rewards in individuals; their sense of personal meaning, choice, competence and progression.
