BLACKFRIARS SETTLEMENT

Blackfriars Settlement is a community organization set up to work with local people to make life better. They aim to do this by: Supporting people to achieve their aspirations; Improving physical and mental well-being and independence for all; Strengthening learning & development – both formal and informal; Boosting digital inclusion; Being a focal point in the community. Blackfriars Settlement provides adult education, services for people with mental health challenges, and older people. They have a positive ageing programme for older people, mental health and wellbeing activities, adult education, digital inclusion sessions and osteopathy. They also host a project documenting the voices and stories of the Windrush generation. They offer a wide range of services and activities, supporting people to achieve their goals and improve their well-being. The organisation was started by volunteers in 1887 and volunteers remain crucial to the work they do.
