The business expanded steadily, mainly upon its reputation for prompt and efficient service. Early in 1982 came the opportunity to expand further by amalgamation with Bowlers Engineering Supplies Ltd. This merger was completed by July 1982, with Avery Knight moving to the larger premises at James Street West, Bath. Bowlers Engineering Supplies Ltd. began trading in 1970, re-establishing the business of a very old and respected Company in Corn Street, Bath. Bowlers Engineering was well known for its wide ranging stocks of steel, non-ferrous metals, wrought and cast products; also valves, fittings and all kinds of engineering accessories. The combined resources of the two organisations can now supply a much wider selection of tools, fastenings, fixings and materials to the Construction, and Engineering Industries. Avery Knight & Bowlers are also able to provide, from a unique range of tools chosen by their engineers, for Masons, Carvers, Sculptors and Allied Professions.
